We all have a story, here’s the latest chapter in mine. I’m a mom of two, former medical social worker, aspiring writer, currently living in Moshi, Tanzania for a year with my husband and school age children. We left our home in Seattle, WA in July 2009, when my pediatrician husband accepted a position with Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative. These are my observations and musings.DSC_0595

A friend forwarded your event to me but unfortunately I was unable to attend. I am an Ex-ISMer (ISM Alumni in American speak) leaving in Seattle. I hope we see your family in one of the worldwide get togethers we all have. Next one is Vegas, NV July 21, 2011 with a hopeful appearance by the founder of ISM and KCMC. There is a yearly camping weekend in Finland that is always open to Ex-ISMers.

I was following your blog last year and have been checking periodically for an update. I’m a renal fellow at UW and did my residency at Baylor in Houston. I also had several friends in this and similar programs and have always been interested in working in Africa. Thus, I was really interested in your blog. Are you planning on a book or further updates? Thanks!

Hi Alice, thanks for your comments. Not sure what is next for me/blog. I do know we miss Tanzania and the work there. We are hoping to host a presentation here in Seattle in the near future. I’ll post the details on the blog; keep checking back!

    Hello Diane,

I am so happy that you and your family are settling well in Tanzania. I know your family from WA very well. I look forward to meeting with you in December. I will be visiting my family in Arusha. Thank you so much for keeping this blog. I reminds me of home so much.

    Love,
    Gabe
